Every few weeks there seem to be new trends when it comes to fashion. Trends that seem to be set by whichever celebrity is flavour of the month at the time. So, why do most of us follow these trends? Why try to be like some one else, and not create our own style? Even though we’ve been stuck at home this year, fashion trends for 2020 seem to be as popular as ever.
Personally, i have never really been into following fashion trends. I like what i like and that hasn’t really changed for the past 30 odd years. My style is very much – fitness and activewear, with a sprinkling of hoodies and loungewear. I HATE to get dressed up and will avoid it at all costs! So, why write an article on fashion trends if i don’t follow them myself? Honestly, although i don’t follow anyone else’s style, i do appreciate looking at what’s trending.
Here are some of the top trends for 2020 for Autumn and Winter fashion…
Tote Bags
One trend we have seen this year is the tote handbag. Practical, spacious, comfortable to carry, and stylish. Plus there are so many to choose from for all occasions. One that has trendy chain detailing perhaps. Or something a bit simpler, perhaps with a bamboo handle. You can shop for beautiful Italian tote bags on so many different websites these days. You don’t even have to leave your house (great at the moment while many of us can’t).
Active Wear
Since Gymshark took over the world with their stunning collections, activewear has become more popular than ever. Their rapid growth and popularity has brought with it a plethora of new fitness brands trying to break the market. From not being able to get any beautiful activewear just a few years ago. We can now get pretty much anything we want, in any colour and design we want. From beautiful leggings, sports bras, cropped vests and hoodies. The word of activewear has become an extremely popular one. I am either in activewear or loungewear these days. I work from home so it’s one of the other!
Loungewear
Again, with the rise in activewear has also brought along with it, the rise in loungewear. It’s now seen as OK to go out wearing loungewear. Whereas a few years ago this wasn’t the case. 10 years ago i would have loved to go out in my loungewear, however this was really frowned upon. Some stores even began to ban people from wearing this type of clothing in their shops. Whereas now, it is all the rage to be as comfortable as possible and is now seen as fashionable! I’m glad my style is finally being seen as fashion!
Even celebrities such as Kim Kardashian has started her own loungewear collection. OK, so it’s crazy expensive, but more and more people are doing it. It’s a race to see who can create the softest, most stunning and figure flattering pieces of loungewear. From cropped hoodies, oversized cardigans and wide leg, figure hugging trousers.
Wide Leg Trousers
For a trendy style, you can switch up how you wear two items that you probably already have in your closet: wide leg trousers and boots. It puts a funky and unique spin on two otherwise classic pieces, and you can add even more personality to your look by selecting colors and details that suit your unique style.
Slouch Boots
Cream colour slouchy boots are in this year, giving you the ability to make your dark-coloured winter looks pop with the light colour or compliment your neutral outfits beautifully. This style and colour boot is unexpected during this time of year, but equally as stylish.
These are great trends for 2020. Many could even be seen as investment pieces you can wear again and again and feel unstoppable in!
