It may seem a little late to start talking about mulled wine and hot toddies but it seems so much colder at the moment than it ever did over the Christmas period. So, I think it’s the perfect time to share with you my fool-proof, steaming hot, apple & cinnamon hug in a mug recipe! This drink goes perfectly with a nice warm pair of thick, snuggly socks, a warm teacake with jam & butter, some great company and a roaring fire… Having said that, having something like my Homemade Pumpkin Soup Recipe is also really nice to keep you feeling warm and cozy.
It’s so easy and super quick to make that as long as you can use a saucepan to do the basics, you’ll be fine! It’s so worth it too and others really will thank you when they come over and you give them a glass f this little beauty!
Ingredients
- 1 Litre of Apple Juice (Organic if you can but it doesn’t have to be)
- A few slices of Orange peel (add to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon of All Spice powder
- 3 Cloves
- 3 Sticks of Cinnamon ( I tend to tie up the Cinnamon sticks so they are easier to fish out afterwards).
- 2 Star Anise (Only use one if you don’t want it too aniseed’y)
Method
- Firstly you will want to pour the apple juice into a sauce pan.
- Then add in all the spices and other ingredients and simmer for around 20-25 minutes (keep stirring to ensure the flavours are mixed in well)
- After you have let it simmer, taste it to make sure you are happy with the flavours. If it’s not sweet enough for you, add half a teaspoon of sugar…yum!
- If you are, strain the liquid into a jug or straight into heat-proof glasses. Enjoy!
I’d love to know if you try this delicious apple & cinnamon hug in a mug recipe.
