Looking for some tasty plant-based ready meals from the UK?
When it comes to the vegan diet, there are many misconceptions that it takes hours to prepare vegan meals, and that each meal is pretty much the same. Of course, if you love to spend hours in the kitchen, and eat the same meals over and over, then that’s up to you.

However, leading a plant-based diet doesn’t have to be a chore or boring at all. Since eating only plant-based foods, the variety of whole foods and delicious meals available to me seems bigger than ever!
You just have to think outside the box a little when considering plant-based eating. Maybe do a bit of research when you first get started for inspiration and to open up your taste buds to new experiences.
Once you know what you’re doing, being plant-based couldn’t be easier, especially now with all the vegan options in supermarkets. Plus, it can be great fun to learn new plant-based recipes full of organic ingredients. You could even try turning your old favourite meaty meals into your own delicious plant-based meals.
Being Vegan & Healthy
A lot of people mistake that simply following a vegan lifestyle, or being dairy-free, means you’re being healthy, or expect weight loss to quickly follow.
This is NOT at all true, there are so many companies out there that seem to think they need to add a tonne of unhealthy fat and other ingredients to their plant-based options. Which actually makes them pretty unhealthy. Of course, this isn’t always true, but it happens a lot!
Or people eating vegan food start to incorporate vegan alternatives, such as vegan cheeses, thinking they’re a healthier option. This couldn’t be further from the truth. They may be plant-based foods, but plant-based doesn’t always automatically mean healthier. Unless you’re eating 100% fresh produce, whole plant foods, or meals you’ve prepared yourself, don’t for a second think you’re choosing healthier foods being vegan.

For example, this creamy vegan mac & cheese recipe is a firm family favourite – and so healthy too! The vegan cheese is made with nutritional yeast and either roasted cauliflower, or boiled cauliflower so it’s high in nutrients and plant-based proteins. Plus, it’s super easy to make, and great if you’re in a hurry. An easy way to make dinner in an instant.
Making vegan or vegetarian recipes yourself, from scratch will ensure they aren’t high in added sugar or salt.
Look At The Ingredients List
You really need to read the labels when it comes to vegan alternative foods, especially things like the vegan ready-meals you find in supermarkets. If you can, only have things like this as an occasional thing, not as a daily occurrence.

Read the ingredients list on the vegan foods you’re eating, just as you would with any other foods. If you can’t read anything on that list or don’t know what it is, the likelihood is you probably shouldn’t be eating it that often!
Instead, opt for fresh ingredients and make your own homemade vegan dinner recipes with natural ingredients.
The Benefits Of Plant-Based Ready Meals
However, if you don’t have the time to make homemade meals from scratch every night, then, of course, you can opt for ready meals instead occasionally – and if you have the budget to do so!

Simply add 2 scoops of your meal to 200-250 ml of boiling water and leave it to sit for 5 minutes. Or if doing it in a microwave, add 2 scoops to 200-250 ml of cold water and microwave for 2.30 minutes, then leave to stand for 5 minutes.
My personal favourite is the pasta bolognese, I think I’m addicted to pasta in general. You would never know it was a plant-based ready meal, that’s packed with plant-based protein either. It makes it one of the easiest ways to get more protein in your diet without having to think about it.
So good that I’m now on my 11th month of using Huel when I need something fast, both for their complete protein shakes and their plant-based meals.
Eat FIID
Eat FIID are the world’s FIRST carbon-neutral vegan ready-meal company. Plus, every meal is 100% plant-based with ZERO additives or preservatives. They are also low in salt, dairy and gluten-free and best of all – all-natural!

There are 6 different meals to choose from including sweet potato curry and tomato & lentil ragu. All come in pouches that you can microwave, or heat in a pan in under 5 minutes. Not something I would eat every day as they aren’t super cheap at £3.50 per bag.

Simple to make, these meals take just a few minutes on the hob or in the microwave to heat up and enjoy. Plus, to make it easier for you, each one lists the calories, protein and fat content on the outside label.
Our Favourites…
- Wild mushroom risotto
- Chilli sin carne
Each one was the perfect size for the main meal and was very filling. However, they also made great side dishes, especially the noodles which we had with some added veggies
Yes, these are expensive meals, so probably not something to have on a daily basis. However, as a plant-based meal delivery service, there were very good and would be perfect for those days when you’re just too busy to cook but still want some home-cooked food.
However, I wouldn’t advise you to eat ready meals every day if possible – even if they are a simple way to eat. Fresh vegetables are always going to be better for you and will have more nutritional value.
Would you add any of these plant-based meal services to your veggie meal plan – if so, which ones?
