I have been going to the gym for years and i’m a fully qualified personal trainer and even i found some of the terms used in crossfit daunting! Below are a list of some of the most commonly used Crossfit acronyms & abbreviations to help you – whether you’re just starting out or not!
What Is CrossFit?
CrossFit is a new-ish style of training that combines various different forms of training – hence being called cross-fit. CrossFit workouts are usually around 1 hour long and will have two parts to them. The first part is where you will do some form of heavy weight training, or technique session. The latter part of the session will be focusing on a more high intensity form of training.
What’s great about crossfit is that anyone can do it, no matter your age or current fitness level as there are modifications that can be done to suit everyone.
If you have ever watched the CrossFit Games, this is essentially the kinds of things you would do in a crossfit class or session – or a much more scaled back version at least!
CrossFit is a lifestyle characterised by safe, effective exercise and sound nutrition. It can be used to accomplish any goal, from improved health to weight loss to better performance. – CrossFit.com
