Are you’re looking to lose weight naturally? Perhaps you’re looking for more natural ways to help you lose that last little bit of weight. Or perhaps you’re just starting out on your weight lose journey. Here are some simple things you can add to your daily routine to help you shift those extra pounds…
Drink (Unsweetened) Green Tea
Green tea is a natural beverage rich in powerful antioxidants. Weight loss and fat burning has been associated with regularly drinking green tea. IT also has the ability to increase your energy expenditure by up to 4%. Plus, it can also reduce the amount of harmful visceral fat found around the belly area.
Eat More Fruits & Vegetables
Fruits and vegetables are generally much higher in water content, nutrients and healthy fibres. These will help you to feel fuller for a longer time. Since they are lower in calories, you can have more without going over your caloric intake. Numerous studies have shown people who eat more fruits and vegetables usually tend to weigh less and have a leaner body mass.
Eat Slowly
If you eat fast, it’s likely you eat too many calories per sitting. It takes a few minutes for your body to realise it’s full before letting you know. So by eating slower, you give your stomach and your brain time to talk and let you know when they’re full.
Studies have shown that people who eat fast are more likely to be obese or overweight. It’s said that each mouthful of food should be chewed up to 20 times before swallowing. Properly and slowly chewing your food will help you digest your food which will help in the production of hormones that are linked to weight loss.
Get Enough Sleep
Studies have shown people who suffer from sleep deprivation (less than 7hours sleep per night) are more likely to become obese. Irregular sleep patterns disrupt the appetite hormonal cycle which can lead to inconsistent eating habits. Getting enough sleep is important for avoiding weight gain and weight loss. The optimum sleep you want to aim for is 8 hours per night if possible.
Stay Hydrated
If you want to lose weight, upping your water intake is the easiest way to do this. Water can suppress your appetite so you’re less likely to snack between meals. Try to drink one glass of water before each meal. The recommended daily water intake is 2 litres for women and 3 litres for men (dependant on your activity levels).
Take Probiotics
Obese and overweight people have shown in studies to have different gut bacteria to those who are in the healthy weight range. Probiotics can help to improve the health of the digestive system.
The live bacteria help aid better digestion buy regulating bacteria in the gut and reducing inflammation. It also reduces the absorption of dairy fat that can raise cholesterol.
Eating Home Cooked Food
One of the best ways to become healthier is by eating a clean, fresh diet full of fruits and vegetables. If you’re making your meals from fresh and healthy ingredients in your own kitchen, you know exactly what you are putting in to your meals and into your body.
There are so many hidden ingredients in store bought foods these days that it’s easy to think you are eating healthy when perhaps you aren’t. The added benefit of consuming these types of foods is that they have many essential nutrients which will help the body to function properly and at it’s healthiest.
Supplements
I don’t agree with dieting AT ALL, I think going on crazy diets is silly and isn’t something you will be able to sustain long term, plus it could also be detrimental to your health. It’s much better to eat healthy foods and to exercise regularly, however, in the short term, if you are looking for some extra help then perhaps something like a meal replacement shake for ONE meal per day would be helpful.
Do Some Cardio
It’s all well and good if you’re eating a super clean and heathy diet, but if you aren’t doing any kind of exercise, it’s not going to make that much difference to how you look on the outside. The average number of steps people in the UK do is UNDER 5,000 when the recommended step goal is between 10,000 – 15,000 steps per day to keep your heart healthy. Try to take stairs whenever possible rather than taking an escalator or an elevator.
Walk as much as possible, even if it’s a small trip to the post office or the local shop. This way you can add cardio to your daily routine without having to sign up for a gym membership or spend money on exercise classes. It doesn’t matter how you get active, anything is better than nothing!
Perhaps you could try riding your bicycle to work rather than driving? Or do a home workout before/after work? The added bonuses of bicycles is that they are environmentally friendly, you wont get caught up in the morning traffic and you don’t have to pay for parking….plus, you’ll save on petrol.
