Making your own homemade yogurt isn’t just a great way to cut down on plastic waste. You can also see exactly what’s inside. While you don’t necessarily need a machine, making yogurt without a yogurt maker is much more difficult.

The Health Benefits Of Yogurt
One of the reasons people tend to include yogurt in their diet is because of the high content of live bacteria it contains. Eating foods high in good bacteria can help you maintain a healthy gut biome.

However, many store-bought yogurts contain little or no good bacteria due to all the preservatives they contain as well. They may contain a very small amount of good bacteria, or these bacteria may no longer be alive. Good probiotic yogurt is never guaranteed unless you make it yourself.
Making your own homemade yogurt ensures you have the highest amount of good bacteria possible. Plus, when you make your yogurt from scratch as needed, you also know it’s as fresh as possible. When it comes to homemade yogurt vs store bought, there’s simply no competition in terms of the benefits.
Why Is Yogurt So Popular?
I guess it varies from person to person, but my thoughts on why yogurt is so popular is because it’s so versatile. You can have it plain, with fruit, sweetened as a dessert, made into homemade yogurt fruit popsicles, or even as a homemade yogurt dressing.

Then of course there are the different flavours and textures of yogurt you can either buy or make yourself. You could even add some protein powder to make it into a protein yogurt – great if you’re looking for a low calorie protein addition.
Since yogurt is so popular, wouldn’t it be great to learn how to make yogurt yourself at home?

Probio 7 Yogurt Recipe Notes
The Probio 7 comes with the UHT Jersey milk, however, you can use any UHT milk. The benefit of using something like the Jersey milk is that it contains more calcium and protein than regular milk. It also comes with more vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to give you the healthiest yogurt possible.

For those who suffer with a slight lactose intolerance, the Jersey UHT milk could be a better option for you to use as the milk proteins are easier to digest than milk from other breeds of cow. Plus, Jersey milk is known for being creamy so if you want your homemade yogurt to be extra creamy, make sure you use Jersey milk.
Before you go searching high and low for yogurt making supplies, once you’ve used up your Jersey milk and/or the yogurt maker sachets, you can order more of both online. You could even set up a monthly subscription if you know you’ll be using it often.

Hi Becky,
This yogurt maker looks amazing. Big fan of yogurt here. I enjoyed it in the States growing up but really dove deeper during trips to the Middle East. Living in Istanbul and Cappadocia in Turkey for months introduced me to perhaps the best yogurt on earth. Yogurt in Qatar and Oman rocked and New Zealand yogurt was epic, with their fab dairy. This yogurt maker is on my list.
