Whilst a holiday can simply be an excuse to relax on a sun lounger on some exotic beach. It can also be the chance for an adventure. If you truly explore the world then you can learn something incredible. Seeing new places and cultures. That doesn’t mean an adventure can’t be a relaxing experience too.
There are plenty of exciting places to see in the world that offer sun, stunning views, and delicious food. It’s just you might want a little more than a beach and an all-inclusive hotel this year. Perhaps you want to broaden your horizons and explore some of the wonders of the world.
If that’s the case, here are some of the best adventure holiday destinations in the world for you to explore.

France
First on our list of the best adventure holiday destinations in the world is France.
When it comes to a travelling experience that’s both adventurous and relaxing, France is a destination that offers the full package. You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to the stunning natural views, sunshine, and heaps of culture that this country has to offer. It might seem like an obvious place to start, but Paris is a beautiful city that you have to visit on your adventure.
The capital has so much to offer. Iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe are worth seeing, but there’s more to Paris than its surface-level beauty. Of course, if you’re looking for more of an educational adventure then you should visit famous museums such as the Louvre. Housing famous pieces of art such as the Mona Lisa (La Joconde) and the Venus de Milo statue, this museum provides an insight into some of the most brilliant artist’s minds of human history. That’s a real holiday.
Of course, there’s more to France than Paris. There’s a lot of natural beauty that you simply need to explore if you want to have an adventure whilst visiting this fascinating country. The French Alps are part of the most extensive mountain range in Europe, and they’re also absolutely stunning.
You should head to Méribel if you’re looking for a luxury ski resort to enjoy whilst you’re there. There’s nothing more adventurous than heading down the silky smooth slopes of those French mountains. Still, you’ll need to do some research to make sure that you go during the perfect ski season. However you choose to explore these stunning mountains, it’s an excursion that promises both incredible visuals and a fun experience.
Australia
If you are looking for somewhere a little further afield, how about the beautiful Gold Coast in Australia. With so many stunning beaches going on for miles and miles, you will be spoilt for choice; whether you’re a surfer or just a wanderer.
You could hire a van and drive along the coast at your leisure, stopping off wherever you like to admire the awesome views. Or opt for fun activities such as Tastes of the Hunter Wine Tours.
Many people don’t even think to book a holiday here because the air fares are so expensive, however, flights to Australia with Skyscanner are actually a bargain, you may be surprised to see what you can get for a lot less than you would imagine.
Sydney Or Melbourne
If the coasts aren’t really for you then why not stay somewhere like Sydney or Melbourne and get a feel for what Aussie life is really like.
There is so much to see and do in these bustling cities – visit the Sydney Harbour Bridge or the Opera House, go on a kayaking expedition with Sydney Harbour Kayaks or if you love animals how about Taronga Zoo perhaps. My younger brother went there for a holiday a few years ago…and hasn’t come back!
Peru
Peru is a country that contains so much beauty and culture. With its vast forests and ancient history, there’s so much to uncover if you’re going to travel to this intriguing part of the world.
Machu Picchu is a city that you should definitely put at the top of your “Must See” list. This ancient location is one of the most beautiful and fascinating historical sites in the world. Once home to the Mayans, the city not only boasts an impressive aesthetic but tells a small piece of an ancient tale about a civilisation that lived there. It’s well worth exploring if you’re looking for an adventurous holiday.

The United States Of America
Looking for an adventure in the U.S? It offers a lot of potential in that regard. Some of the best destinations in the country can be found on the west coast, to be exact.
You should head to California if you’re looking for sunshine and a fun experience; San Francisco, is a city that promises both of these, and a place we are actually going back to very soon for our 5 year wedding anniversary (click the link above to check out our honeymoon trip).
You should head to Alcatraz Island for not only a lesson on an interesting piece of this city’s history but a visit to a place that’s surprisingly beautiful. Make sure you do both the daytime and the evening tour as they are VERY different!
Along with the history of the island, it also has beautiful gardens with colourful plants and vibrant wildlife that now cover the former prison island. It’s an eye-opening experience and one you should definitely add to your list of places to visit.
Las Vegas
Once you’ve had enough of the west coast, you might want to head a little further east to the glitzy city of Las Vegas. It’s a popular tourist destination for a reason.
There’s something interesting about the idea of an exciting and bustling city located in the heart of an arid desert. There are casinos, luxurious hotels, and fantastic performances on offer throughout the city. You’ll have your pick of incredible things to see and do.
When you’ve had your fill of the big city, you might want to head out on a road trip to the Grand Canyon. There’s nothing like a natural monument to really put things into perspective. Plus, an American road trip is an adventure in itself.
Do check the weather before you go though as when we went in April it was 45 degrees which was just far too hot to really enjoy it properly.
What would you say are some of the best adventure holiday destinations in the world?
