It’s only natural more and more people are opting out of fast fashion and turning to vintage clothing instead. Looking to make more sustainable choices when it comes to our wardrobes, and lives in general.
Thankfully looking for second hand or vintage clothing doesn’t mean you have to go routing through your grandparents attic’s anymore. There are a wide range of vintage and second hand stores online, making it just as simple as buying new. This also works for your home as well. Often buying second hand, or rustic items for your home can look so much nicer. Take the COP26 thinking from your wardrobe, into your home as well.
ASOS Vintage Clothing
I bet you didn’t know that ASOS have a vintage clothing store on their marketplace website, as well as their main one. OK, so ASOS itself is awful when it comes to fast fashion.
However, the ASOS marketplace is a great place to bag a bargain for second hand clothes. There’s everything for both men and women and there is generally a really good selection to choose from. Launched back in 2010, the ASOS marketplace is home to over 900 small businesses from over 50 countries. You can even start selling your old items on there as well if you open up your own little boutique.
If you do decide to start selling items yourself, you should consider what you are using in terms of packaging. Many types of packaging, especially if lined with plastic or bubblewrap actually aren’t recyclable. However, there are companies that offer Bespoke packaging that are eco friendly, sustainable and even cost saving. Much better for the environment!
Beyond Retro
Beyond Retro, launched back in 2002 and sells only vintage clothing for men and women. From vintage sportswear and dresses. To vintage jeans and even Christmas clobber.

eBay UK
eBay UK is a second hand store you know pretty well as it has been around for years and is still known as one of the best places to look for vintage clothing. It’s great for being able to buy locally to save on postage and petrol, meaning it’s even better for the environment.
These days, if you can’t find it on eBay, it probably doesn’t exist! They have everything you could ever imagine. From second hand clothing and accessories. To vintage furnishings and even cars.
Etsy Vintage Clothing Online
Etsy is a treasure trove for second hand and vintage clothing. You can search for pieces based on size, style, pattern and even by event! If you have a specific event or celebration coming up that you want something for, they give you suggestions.
It is one of the more expensive places to shop but some of the pieces are stunning, and well worth the money.
Facebook Groups
One of the newer ways to find second hand and vintage clothing is to have a browse through your local Facebook buy and sell groups. The best thing about this is that the items are generally very close to where you live. Yo never know, you might even find something from your next door neighbour! One persons trash is another persons treasure!
Oxfam Online
Oxfam Online is a great way to shop for vintage clothing as every penny raised goes to charities around the world. Either helping those in poverty, or paying fair trade producers. More charities like this are needed to help promote COP26 and the climate issues around the world.

Vinted
One of the newer places to find vintage items is through Vinted. It’s one of those that allow you to both shop and sell your unwanted items online. Instead of throwing out your old clothing items, you can easily sell them online. Plus, while you’re at t, you can easily buy some great vintage items to replace them with!
It’s said there are now more than 45 million people who use Vinted, so there are always plenty of items to find and choose from, no matter what you’re looking for.
Thrift Plus
Thrift Plus, launched in 2017, is one i hadn’t heard of until recently and is actually the UK’s second biggest online second hand store.
As well as offering great second hand and vintage items, they also help to raise money for a number of charities. Their mission is to reduce waste and to help create a more sustainable future.
