Suffice to say that living under lockdown isn’t the height of fun. For those of us furloughed, life has changed dramatically pretty much overnight. It can be a bit daunting knowing what to do next, so we have come up with a few ideas to keep you occupied. Mix up your quarantine routine with these tips…
With every change comes opportunity, you just have to look for it in the right places. Don’t see it as a negative, try to see all the positives about being stuck at home in lockdown instead. This way the hours will fly by and you’ll be back to work before you know it.
Give Yourself A Home Manicure
Nail salons might be closed due to quarantine, but that doesn’t mean that you’re stuck for hand care options. You can now buy at home gel-kits with all the accessories you need for the perfect nails. Don’t forget to slather on the hand cream.
Indulge In A New Book
Be honest with yourself, before lockdown, how often did you get the chance to read a book? Not often, probably. Now, therefore, is the perfect time to splash out on a novel and indulge yourself a little.
Start A Pandemic Podcast
Forget listening to podcasts – what about starting one? If there’s something that you’re passionate about, why not just talk about it for 30 minutes into a microphone a couple of times per week. Sure, it might sound like a strange thing to do, but you never know – you might enjoy it. And it could be an alternative to going back to the day job if you’re good at it.
Write Somebody A Lockdown Letter
Writing a letter seems so passé, but it can be a great way to connect with somebody you haven’t spoken to for a long time. While we’re all stuck in quarantine, why not spend some time reaching out to friends and family by sending them a lockdown letter.
Meet New People
Seeing as we still can’t really go out anywhere, and certainly can’t meet new people face to face. Why not try online dating – if you’re single of course! Online dating has come so far over the last few years. Something as simple as being able to video chat with someone to get to know them on a deeper level. I feel there is only so much you can learn about someone via text messages. You don’t get to see their facial expressions and mannerisms. Plus, by not meeting them face to face, you only need to get the top half of yourself looking date ready! Business on top and loungewear on the bottom! Spend the time you have not being able to go out, by meeting people online, free dating. Work on your Cheshire dating style until you can finally go out again. How weird is that going to be when we can actually touch other people again!
Experiment With A New Product
The high street might be closed, but that doesn’t mean you’re banned from all types of shopping. Why not experiment with a new product and buy online? You could try unique eliquid flavours or splash out on a luxurious hair mask. The possibilities are practically endless.
Quarantine Quiz Night Over Zoom
Before the pandemic, pubs used to hold weekly quiz nights. People would turn up every Thursday evening for their regular fix of trivia.
With social venues closed, it’s now up to you to take up the slack. Why not start a Zoom version of quiz night, inviting all your friends or the locals from the pub?

Start A Complicated Hobby In Lockdown
Many of us have a lot of time to burn due to quarantine – more than we’ve ever had in our lives. It is time, therefore, to indulge in a complicated hobby – something that will keep you entertained for days on end. Lego, model aeroplanes, model railways, cross-stitch, or painting should stave off the boredom.
Make Your Own Cheese
Did you know that you can make your own cheese from milk? Well, it turns out you can. Why buy it from the diary when you can churn it out at home? Typically, all you need to do is buy a box set. These include all the ingredients and instructions.
If you’re bored during lockdown, fear not, you’re not alone. Sometimes, though, all you need is a little inspiration, and you’re off to the races. Hopefully, these ideas will help!
