Planning a revamp of your teen’s bedroom and looking for some ideas? Look no further, we’ve got you covered! Whether you have a large or a small bedroom to work with, you can make it work. Here are a few teen bedroom ideas we think might be great for inspiration…
Themes For Their bedroom
Before you do anything else, you should work out whether you’ll be trying to create a themed bedroom. Or if you want your bedroom design to be more classic, bright and colourful. This will give you a basis to work from and should help with a lot of your decision making. For example, if your child loves a particular cartoon, you would design the room around this. With the cartoon the main theme throughout. Or perhaps the theme you would go for is their favourite colour or hobby. This will make your life so much easier as you have something to work around.
However, if you decide not to have any kind of theme, don’t worry. There are plenty of things you can do to make their bedroom awesome! Here are some fabulous bedroom ideas…
The Bed
When I was younger I would dream of having a really cool bed like a bunkbed. Or one that looked like a castle or something. However all I got was a normal bed (which was very comfy), which isn’t the dream for a young person. I remember one my friend had was a bed up top with a desk and play area underneath and I was too jealous but loved going tother house as it was something so different.
These days there is so much more choice available but the one that seems to be the most popular are the children’s mid sleeper beds with storage. I guess partly because they are like a bunkbed on the top half and then with the perfect area underneath to be tuned into a den or castle…or for storage as the parents might prefer to see it. Or the space could even be used as a bunkbed if your chid has a friend to stay overnight.
The Paint
If you’re feeling brave, perhaps you could ask your child what colour they would like their bedroom to be?! Don’t be surprised if it’s a really weird or out there colour though, and one that might really hate so be willing to go along with whatever they choose if you do ask them. Or if you aren’t feeling quite that brave, perhaps you could take their favourite colour and dull it down a little to make it more bearable to you. This is really simple to do by either buying the colour they want and adding white emulsion or you could just go for a muted version of the paint.
Another thing to take into consideration is how much natural light the bedroom gets. If it doesn’t get very much, you should stick to lighter colours on the walls and ceiling and even when it comes to the majority of the bits and bobs in the room as well with maybe just a few stand out pieces. However, if your rooms gets a lot of natural light, you can go nuts with the darker, bolder colours.
Bedroom Accessories
Other than toys, a bed and perhaps a little bedside desk. You don’t really need much more in a child’s bedroom apart from possibly some shelving and a wardrobe or chest of drawers. You could add to their bedroom design with a funky light for them to enjoy while they sleep as a night light. Or bedside table lamp or even a rug or play mat (depending on their age) to make the room feel most cozy and somewhere for them to relax after a hard days playing!
What would your dream bedroom design have been when you were younger?
