What Ingredients Do You Need?
How To Make The Best Oil Blend For Natural Hair?
It’s actually so simple and easy to make, and can be made in big and small batches depending on your needs and how many of you intend on using it. I always make more than i think i’ll need as my husband loves to use it too!
- In a brown glass bottle (if not brown, make sure it’s a glass bottle) fill one third with castor oil.
- Then add in one third jojoba oil and one third coconut oil. Make sure you use fractionated coconut oil as the coconut oil you cook with will go solid when cold.
- Once you’ve added in your carrier oil combination, add in 30 drops of each of your essential oils – tea tree oil and rosemary oil.
- Put the lid on and give the bottle a really could shake.
- Put it in a cool dark place for 24 hours to make sure the oils have time to combine
I would recommend doing a patch test on the inside of your wrist, or behind your ear if using these oils for the first time just to make sure you don’t have a bad reaction to them. If all is clear, we advise using this blend of oils no more than once a week before washing your hair.

How To Use This Oil For Natural Hair?
There are a few different ways you can use this hair oiling treatment. As either a leave-in conditioner, or as a quick hydration boost before you wash your hair.
If you want to use it as a leave-in conditioner, maybe on a day where you plan to stay at home, first thing in the morning cover your hair from the roots down in the oil. Give yourself a scalp massage to make sure the oil blend has penetrated deep into your hair follicles. If you have longer hair, make sure the oils cover right down to the end of the hair shaft, then cover your hair with a shower cap and leave on for as long as possible before washing it out in the evening.
However, if you don’t have the time, or just don’t want to have a shower cap on all day then you could just add a few drops of hair oil onto your scalp on hair wash days. Leave it in for 20 minutes (the longer the better) before washing your hair as normal.
Personally, i find the easiest way to do it is by doing it on a day i have housework to do so i can leave it in all day. The longer you can leave it to soak into your hair and scalp, the faster you’ll see the best results.
If you include this as part of your hair care routine once a week, or every other week, you should start to notice you have more good hair days, your hair texture looks better and your overall hair health is better in general.
Why These Carrier Oils?
We use the carrier oils – fractionated coconut, castor and jojoba because they are powerful natural oils. They are also the best hair oils as it’s an antioxidant-rich oil combination that will provide your hair with the essential nutrients it needs.
These oils are full of essential fatty acids, vitamin e and all contain anti-inflammatory properties which, overtime will lead to healthier hair and improved scalp health.
Castor oil is one of the heavier oils and will make this hair oil blend a thick consistency, full of amino acids that help to repair structural damage and oxidative stress. It’s also an oil that often gets used for various medical conditions – along with tea tree oil.
Why These Essential Oils?
Tea tree essential oil and rosemary essential oil are known for being some of the most popular hair oils and are often found in hair care products.
Rosemary oil is one of the best oils for those who suffer with hair loss as it helps to boost blood circulation in the scalp, promoting new hair growth. Read the label of almost any hair products and you should see rosemary in there somewhere. Rosemary oil has become very popular in recent years and it is an excellent choice. Even a recent clinical trial has shown to prove rosemary aids in the production of new hair growth – it’s not just another fad!
Then there’s tea tree oil which is great for healing due to its anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. Tea tree oil can help to reduce an itchy scalp, get rid of greasiness in the hair, fight fungal infections that cause an itchy scalp and dandruff. It can even help to unclog hair follicles, making your hair look and feel cleaner and smoother.
What’s great about this hair oil blend is that it won’t strip you of your natural hair oils like some haircare products might. It instead works with your hair and your individual needs to give you what you need, or might be lacking.
