Whether you’re decluttering your house, or have just invested in some new homewares, you might be looking to reorganise your house to maximise the space. To get the most out of your floor space it takes some clever storage solutions. Keep things out the way, yet easy to access when you need them. Here are just a few home storage ideas to help make decluttering and organising that much easier. Here are our top storage tips for your home…
Maximising Kitchen Space
With so many utensils and foodstuffs in the kitchen, ‘things’ can soon pile up and become difficult to manage and store. Finding the right place for everything while keeping the kitchen clear to work in can be difficult.
A well placed cutlery tray in your draw should keep things tidy. Perhaps consider leaving your everyday utensils on the worktop. It will free up space in the draws and allow them to be easily accessible. Similarly, you could also consider a rack on a wall to store some of your prettier items. Make them into a focal piece in your kitchen, as well as saving valuable space.
Applying this same principle to your mugs with a mug-tree, or perhaps go for some wall pegs for any items you can hang up. The space under the sink is often forgotten about, yet is a great place for storing larger items. Perhaps using some trays or boxes in the cupboard to keep it tidy.
Keeping the Living Room Clear
The living room is perhaps the most used room in a house, so its normal for things to be out of place, but this is all the more reason to carefully consider storage solutions there, so that the living room remains a place to relax.
Cabinets and bookshelves are obvious examples of living room staples, providing lots of storage, and if picked right, are a stylish storage option. If the profile of a cabinet is too large for your living room, consider shelving attached to the wall, providing just as much storage as a bookshelf without taking up as much room. Buying some baskets to put on shelf spaces can be a neat and tidy way to store miscellaneous items like newspapers and toys without the clutter. If you prefer more subtle storage options, there are plenty of footstalls with storage hidden under the seat, whilst many coffee tables will have shelving or drawers underneath.
Tidying the Bedroom
Everyone’s bedroom can become prone to clutter, as it is where we keep some of our favourite things. But home storage solutions in the bedroom don’t solely have to consist of large, unwieldy wardrobes.
Divan beds offer a great mix of comfort and concealed storage. Perfect for storing things from – suitcases to formal wear that may not be part of your everyday wardrobe. You could also consider an open rail instead of a wardrobe. Showcase your beautiful clothes with a combination of hooks and pegs for the most regularly used items. A large trunk at the bottom of the bed is another top storage tip for things like extra bedclothes and keepsakes.
