So, you’re about to rush out of the door on your first holiday as a legally married couple – the honeymoon of dreams. However, before you do so, it’s worth ensuring that you’ve got all the stuff you need. Leaving something behind can make life considerably more stressful – and potentially a lot more expensive too.

Also, make sure you have everything sorted out at home as well. Lock doors and windows. Is anyone going to be watering your plants – if so, do they have a key? Are there any time sensitive bills that need to be paid before you go? Do you have your work email set to ‘out of office’? Have you cancelled any expected deliveries – or can these be diverted to a neighbour…etc.

The Basics To Take On Your Honeymoon
So, now you’ve got everything sorted out at home, let’s run through the essentials for your honeymoon pack list. It’s unlikely you will forget anything – especially when it comes to the important stuff. However, it’s better to be over careful than not careful enough!

Honeymoon Travel Documents
By far the most important item is your passport. Unless you’re going on a domestic honeymoon, you’ll need this to travel into a foreign country. Particular destinations might also confer particular requirements when it comes to other documents. Make a list of them and store them all in the same place.

Activity Booking Confirmations
OK, so most venues will send their booking confirmations to you via email, or another electronic device. However, just incase something happens to them, it’s worth printing out anything you might need – to be on the safe side.
Some honeymoon packages will have things like activities included for you. However, if you have decided to book any activities through another provider, make sure you have all the necessary documents with you.
Clothes & Shoes
You’ll want to have a strong idea of what the weather’s going to be like on your honeymoon. A lot of heavier items will take up space in your luggage – and this isn’t really justified if you’re going on a break to a sunny part of the world. Women’s holiday skirts can be bought and packed in large amounts – so why not pick out something new? Whether you want to make an effort with some new honeymoon outfits, or you intend to go more casual and have a relaxing trip away together.
In most cases, you’ll need just one or two kinds of shoe. Active walking holidays will require supportive boots, more laid-back ones might require just a pair of flip flops. Remember that you’re going to be wearing shoes as you travel, so you can usually get away with packing just one spare.
Organised Toiletries
Pack your toiletries as soon as you have used them for the last time before you leave. This way you’ll know everything you need is packed and ready to go.
Also, if you are taking any hand luggage with you on a flight, make sure any liquids are in a clear plastic bag to help avoid any un-necessary hold-ups at check-in. The last thing you want is to have to start unpacking your suitcase while you stand in line. Or worse, have to leave any of your favourite products behind because they’re over the limit!
Hand Luggage
Talking of hand luggage, depending on your honeymoon destination, it might also be worth including one outfit, or a bikini in your hand luggage. Just incase you bag decides to go travelling without you, it would be a shame not to at least have a bikini/swimsuit with you if you’re going on a beach holiday.
That way, if you are left with nothing, at least you can wallow on the beach while you wait for your bags to arrive! You don’t want your honeymoon to the Maldives – or any of the other stunning honeymoon beach location to be ruined – especially at the moment with all the baggage issues at airports lately!

Cash
You can’t be sure that your debit card will be accepted everywhere you go – and you might find yourself stung by expensive rates. Get yourself a supply of cash, and store it in the safe, in the place that you’re staying.
Perhaps just a few hundred pounds/dollars…etc just incase you find yourself in need, or an emergency occurs.
Travel Insurance
You’ll want to cover yourself against potential mishap. That’s where travel insurance comes in. Make sure that you’re covered before you get started.
Adaptors & Phone Chargers
Power outlets come in many different forms, which might not work with your British chargers. Get some adaptors. Bear in mind that you might find it easier to charge via USB – so take a spare cable or two.

A Few Romantic Items
This is your honeymoon, so why not take a few romantic items that will help you to get into the mood, and set the right vibe? That means lingerie, contraception, and any other particular items that you think will help.

Medicines
If you become injured while you’re out there, then it’s important to know where to go to obtain medical attention. In the case of small scrapes and bruises, having a few plasters and bandages will help you to get it dressed and get on with your holiday.
