It’s hard to describe autumn as there are so many great things about this season.
The gorgeous colours that seem to come out of nowhere, covering the floor and the trees. Even the sky seems to glow with Autumn loveliness! Autumn sunsets are definitely the best you’ll probably ever see.
Going for evening walks in the cool, crisp air and being surrounded by that amazing noise when you walk through the leaves. Crunching delightfully under your every step. I don’t know what it is about Autumn leaves on the floor that seems to bring out everyone’s childish side. You can’t just leave them alone. You have to kick them as hard as you can. Run through them. Or even dive into a big pile of them!

The Food
Even the food in Autumn seems to be more inviting with those deep oranges and reds oozing throughout each dish. The wafts coming out of the kitchen from people making gingerbread houses and cakes. That wonderful warming ginger spice that feels like it’s hugging your soul!
Then of course autumn is also the time of year when you can go foraging for blackberries. Filling your bags with empty containers to fill with those juicy, plump and delicious berries. The perfect filling for crumbles and pies, slathered with warming custard and sprinkled with cinnamon.

Christmas Is Coming
When Autumn hits it’s as though you can finally start to get outwardly excited about Christmas. It’s almost as though at a flick of a switch people begin to get excited about the festivities around Christmas.
Whether it’s booking trips to visit the stunning Christmas markets around the worlds, or even in your local area. Starting the Christmas fruit cake in late October to have enough time to fill it with enough booze to knock over a horse. Buying Christmas presents, or signing up for wreath making classes.

As the Autumn months means it gets a little colder outside, it gives you an excuse to cuddle up on the sofa with a huge mug of hot chocolate and the thickest blanket you can possibly find! Watching the latest Netflix documentary with the fire flickering in the background.
Then there are the candles. In autumn it seems more acceptable to have the house filled with burning candles, a different scent in every room. Wafting around scents of cinnamon, bergamot, orange & clove. The scents that beautifully describe autumn. With names such as – fireside, winter warmer and frosty morning.
It also means it’s time to get out the warm, thick winter clothing. The huge scarves, thermal long socks, beanies and gloves. Have you ever tried walking in the rain when you’re wrapped up all warm and cozy, especially when it’s wet and cold outside. Listening to the rain bounce off your jacket, or fall through the trees. There’s something almost serene and magical about it – especially when there aren’t any other people around!

The Local Fair
Most areas, in the UK at least, will have some kind of fair pop up in the autumn and winter months. The atmosphere is suddenly filled with laughter and screams from people on the fairground rides.
The smell of popcorn, toffee apples and candy floss enveloping the air around you with that sweet and sickly, yet warm and comforting scent. The sky is alight with the glow from the fair, dancing around like little fairies having a party!
The dazzling lights are a subtle reminder that Christmas is on it’s way. It won’t be long until those lights are exchanged for the twinkle of the Christmas tree lights.
It’s even time to start doing a bit of autumnal garden maintenance. How would you describe autumn?
